The Dual Degree Programme is the first of its kind in Pakistan in which the curriculum of a Pakistani university has been recognized by a well reputed British University. Moreover, it is a landmark agreement between Lancaster University and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) which will allow Pakistani students to earn a sound international degree from the Midland based facility in addition to their own degree from CIIT for a fraction of cost of study in UK. The students enrolled in the DDP shall be able to avail this unique opportunity of earning a renowned foreign degree whilst enjoying the pleasure of residing within Pakistan. The programme grants students two separate degrees from both the Lancaster University and the CIIT, hence enhancing their credentials and future prospects for better job opportunities.

All applications are processed solely on merit which is evaluated on the basis of following criteria:

Admission Forms along with the prospectus can be purchased from the Admission Office, COMSATS Lahore. The application along with the photocopies of the required documents has to be submitted in person at the Admission Office is determined by a combination of factors one of which is the Entrance Test combined with the weighted marks earned in the previous public examinations. After the last date of submission of Admission forms, entrance tests will be conducted by NTS according to the admission schedule or on a given date (for NAT) as notified by NTS through its website and the print media. All admissions shall be regulated on the basis of merit determined by combining the weighted marks obtained in the entrance test with the weighted marks earned in the previous public examinations.

The admissions to Dual Degree Programme are opened twice a year (Spring and Fall). Applications are made in response to the admission advertisement in the print media. Admissions are conducted according to an admission schedule, which is prominently highlighted in these admission announcements.

The Entrance Test is conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS). The fee for NTS test is Rs. 500/- that shall be submitted at the time of submitting admission form at Lancaster Block. For further information about the NTS and its testing procedure, candidates may visit www.nts.org.pk. The Admissions Office also provides information in this regard.

Prospectus along with the application form can be made available to a candidate on the payment of Rs. 1,000/-. The prospectus can be purchased in person from the admission office, CIIT Lahore. The prospectus can also be sent to a candidate through courier on receipt of Demand Draft/Pay Order of Rs. 1,200/-.

In case the final result of previous examination is awaited, then provision of a “Hope Certificate” from the college last attended can provide the basis for a conditional offer of admission at CIIT. The offer is confirmed once the final result is declared and the eligibility criterion is fully met. A specimen of a ‘Hope Certificate’ is provided in the prospectus.

• Two attested photocopies of Certificates/Detailed Mark Sheets of Matriculation or equivalent examination, Intermediate or equivalent examination, and Graduate degree or its equivalent examination (if applicable), Original Migration Certificate along with two photocopies (if applicable).
• Original Hope Certificate with two attested photocopies or Affidavit (if applicable).
• Undertaking, on Stamp Paper, by the student and guardian to abide by the rules and regulations of the institute.
• Computerized National Identity Card (or ‘B’ Form) along with two attested photocopies.
• Four photographs (size: 1’x1.5’, blue background). These must be attested from the back. The candidate’s name, guardian’s name, and programme applied for should be clearly printed on the back of the photographs.

Original documents are not required during the admission process. However, selected students will be required to produce the original transcripts/documents after they have been confirmed a place in the respective programmes.

The programme is of four-year duration and is divided into two phases: the foundation phase (years one and two) and the skill-development/enhancing phase (years three and four). Each year is divided into two semesters with an optional summer semester.

The DDP is not an external programme. By ‘external programme’ it is meant that students will study as external students of LU in its sub campus set up in Lahore. The terms “external student” or “external programme” will not be written on the degrees awarded by LU. This is in fact, one of the unique features of the DDP. In addition, upon completion of the degree, students will be awarded two degrees, one from each university.

Under the existing agreement, the student is expected to complete all the degree requirements while residing in Pakistan. However a possibility of the student going to Lancaster University for some time during the course of study can be discussed with Lancaster University.

On successful completion of the four years programme, students will be awarded two degrees, one by LU and the other by CIIT. This means that the students will be alumni of both LU and CIIT. For Computing, the degree awarded by LU is B.Sc. (Hons) Computing while the degree awarded by CIIT is BS Computer Science; For Business Studies, LU will award the degree of B.Sc. (Hons) Business Studies and CIIT a degree in BS. Business Administration;CIIT will award BS Electrical (Computer) Engineering where as B Eng (Hons) Computer Systems Engineering will be awarded by LU; while in Engineering, LU will award the degree of B.Eng. Communication Systems with Electronics whereas CIIT will award a degree in BS. Electrical (Telecom) Engineering.

Teaching faculty is there to support you. Students can access the required faculty member during the consultation hours which will be notified through a timetable. In addition to this video conferencing facility shall be made available for the students of the Dual Degree Programme to interact with the faculty of Lancaster University. The faculty of Lancaster University will also be visiting Pakistan after every semester to interact and collect feedback from the students.

Most of the teaching takes the form of structured lectures and case studies. The style is participatory and classes frequently include case analysis and discussions. There are also many projects and group work, field research and industrial visits as well as individual research work and simulation exercises.

Yes! COMSATS provides transportation to all of its students and faculty members within Lahore. The transport charges are to be paid by the student additionally on monthly basis.
