Dual Degree Programme: Business Administration
Introduction:-
In this contemporary era of rapidly evolving global business and commerce, CIIT established the Department of Management Sciences in 2002 to impart an affordable, high quality formal education in management sciences through a comprehensive 4-year regular BS Business Administration programme and 2-year regular MBA programme.
Over the past eight years, the department has emerged as the most dynamic and vibrant department across the entire CIIT’s network of seven campuses. It is committed to the objective of keeping the knowledge of students in accordance with constantly changing market trends.
The department provides proven solutions to today's leaders and managers through innovative research and high quality educational programmes. It deals with the application of scientific methods to management and including traditional areas of operations research, economics, organizational behavior, and ex¬tends to interdisciplinary areas that include the use and impact of information systems.
The Dual Degrees:
On completion students will be awarded with two degrees:
- BSc (Hons) Business Studies from LU
- BS Business Administration from CIIT with transcript
Degree Accreditation:
The BSc (Hons) Degree in Business Studies is accredited by the Association of Advance Collegiate School of Business (AASCSB) which is an international accrediting agency.

Faculty:
The faculty of Management Sciences at CIIT Lahore is the backbone of the programme.
The academically sound and highly experienced Professors will teach the core and elective modules. Additionally, lectures and seminars by senior managers and executives from lead¬ing industries and businesses will be organized periodically to share their insights and experiences with the students.
Research:
Department of Management Sciences has established a Centre for Research in Management Sciences (CRMS) to facilitate faculty members and students to actively pursue their respective research areas. The rationale for the establishment of CRMS is based on the long standing need of undertaking high quality research in order to bridge the gap between industry and academia in Pakistan. The scope of activities includes:
- Launch of a research journal.
- Training and development of faculty and graduate students.
- Organizing national and international research conferences and seminars.
- Developing strong ties with industry, and national and international agencies for funded research projects.
Scope:-
The B.Sc (Hons) Degree in Business Studies is designed to impart internationally accredited education in the field of Business Studies. With 139 credits, this full-time programme consists of a number of core and elective courses which not only provide a theoretical background of business intricacies but also offer an opportunity for exposure to the actual business practices. Students may specialize in three manage¬ment disciplines – Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Manage¬ment.
The programme provides students with a thorough understanding in both the theoretical as well as the practical aspects of business and management. Students will be familiarized with a spectrum of key functional areas. Cutting edge knowledge will be imparted in strategic management, challenges faced by managers in the 21st century, business ethics and a host of other exciting subject areas. All students are required to study a rigorous curriculum validated by LUMS and will develop competencies in statistics, accounting and finance, economics and marketing.
The Lancaster-COMSATS dual degree covers a wide range of business and management
courses. Its overall objective is to enable students to understand, engage with, and form a reflective perspective on the roles and practices of management in businesses; to enable them to acquire appropriate levels of knowledge of key management decision-making perspectives, and of at least two management disciplines. Students will also obtain basic knowledge across a spectrum of key functional areas. The programme also enables students to develop a reflective outlook on issues relating to their potential future employability and career development in the field of business. It provides high expected returns in terms of professional and vocational relevance.
Because of diversity in options available to students the common learning goals as mentioned below highlights the individual levels of attainments beyond the common core that each Business Studies student will achieve. Such varied additional attainments will vary from student to student according to their choices.
Career Prospects:
The degree will equip graduates to work in the service, financial, accounting, hospitality, retailing, wholesaling and manufacturing industries, with specific focus on those who wish to work in, or operate, their own small businesses.
Programme Objectives and Outcomes:-
The DDP intends to give students the opportunity to earn a world class bach¬e¬lors degree in business and management in Pakistan, which would provide them a competitive edge in the job market after graduation and opens the door for them to easily pursue higher studies in the UK and other develop¬ed countries.
The DDP covers a wide range of business and manage¬ment courses. The main aims are:
- To provide students with a solid theoretical and practical knowledge of the management in business organizations.
- To develop student’s holistic thought patterns and critical analysis, and reflection upon business issues and their ability to analyse business phenomena effectively and efficiently.
- To develop student’s adaptability and flexibility of approach.
- To prepare students for a career in business or business-related fields and develop their capability to contribute to society at large.
- To enhance student’s lifelong learning skills, communication skills and personal development.
The Business Studies programme mainly consists of modules, which are mutually endorsed by CIIT and LU. During the four-year programme, students will:
- Cover four main functional business and management-related areas to, at least, an introductory level in the subject of Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing and Quantitative Methods and Statistics.
- Students are also expected to obtain a specialized know¬ledge and under-standing of subjects from at least two management functional disciplines, such as: Accounting & Finance, Econo¬mics, Manage¬ment Science, Marketing, Work and Technology.
Admission Criteria:-
- FA/F.Sc/A-Levels with minimum 60% marks
- IELTS score of at least 5.5 Band or higher (to be acquired within first year of study period)
- The students must be able to communicate well in English language (mandatory)
Programme Structure:-
The programme is designed to cover four main business and management related areas including Accounting & Finance, Economics, Marketing, and Quantitative Methods and Statistics. The focus of the programme is to impart knowledge and develop understanding of subjects from at least two management functional disciplines, such as: Accounting & Finance, Economics, Management Science, Marketing, Work and Technology. The four years (i.e. 8 semesters) duration of the programme is divided into two phases: Foundation Phase (years 1 and 2) and Skill-development/enhancing Phase (years 3 and 4). Specializations are offered in the areas of Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Management to meet the students’ specific career objectives.
