THE DSH PROGRAMME
The DSH-Programme is designed for non-German speaking students interested in enrolling in an undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate degree programme at a German university where the medium of instruction is German. Course participants will be taught German to a standard which is considered sufficient for them to gain admission to a German university. The DSH-Programme offers two types of German language courses.
The total course duration is three academic semesters. The basic requirement for admission to this course is that the applicant is already in possession of either "A"-Levels (or a comparable standard) or an undergraduate Pakistani degree (2 or 4 years). The first semester will be held at the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology in Lahore, the second and third semesters will be held at a campus in Germany selected by the COMSATS German partner IBK which comprises a network of German universities. The total numbers of hours at Lahore will be 450 and in Germany approximately 1000 (according to the official German Studienkolleg rules and regulations). The student can finish the DSH-Programme in 6 months also after the completion of 600 hours in Germany, depending on the student's individual skills. In this case, one semester will be reduced.
Students with "A"-Levels (or a comparable standard) will, on successful completion of the DSH-programme, be eligible for admission directly in an undergraduate programme at a Germany university. Students without "A"-Levels (or a comparable standard) but who hold a degree from a two-year undergraduate programme offered at a Pakistani university will, on successful completion of the DSH-programme, be eligible for admission in the first semester of an undergraduate programme at a German university.
Students who hold a degree from a four-year undergraduate programme offered at a Pakistani university (or two degrees from two undergraduate programmes each of two years duration) will, on successful completion of the DSH-programme, be eligible for admission into a graduate or, in some instances, doctoral programme at a Germany university.
