Project Title: Head Pose Estimation in an Unconstraint Environment

Supervisor Name: Dr. Usman Saeed

Group Members:  Arslan Aamir, Majid Hafeez, Faisal Mehmood

Project Abstract
The capacity to estimate the head pose of another person is a common human ability that presents a unique challenge for computer vision systems. Compared to face detection and recognition, which have been the primary foci of face-related vision research, identity-invariant head pose estimation has fewer rigorously evaluated systems or generic solutions. In this project we estimate the pose of head in 3 DoF pitch, yaw and roll. It requires a series of processing steps to transform a pixel-based representation of a head into a high-level concept of direction. Like other facial vision processing steps, an ideal head pose estimator must demonstrate invariance to a variety of image-changing factors.

Project Title: Smart Home Automation

Supervisor Name: Mr. Jawad Shafi, Mr. Rab Nawaz Jadoon

Group Members:  M. Affan Usmani, Taimoor Hassan

Project Abstract
Nowadays many people are on the move from place to place due to business demands. Some people have to spend a couple of days away from their home leaving all their household appliances without any kind of monitoring and control. Some devices are left plugged into power sockets whereas others are supposed to be plugged into and out of power sockets at different intervals depending on the time of the day. All this requires an individual to manually attend to each of the devices independently from time to time. Some devices if not controlled properly consume a lot of energy which leads to extra expenditure on electricity. All such monitoring and control can be done without necessarily being around or inside the home. Therefore we propose an internet based home automation system which will enable one to remotely manage his/her appliances from anywhere, anytime.
