Project Description:

Pakistan is an agricultural country and Rice is an important staple food and export product, high-quality rice with mature, plump, clear, and undamaged kernel appearance is always more valued by consumers. Whenever it comes to export quality assurance concerns arises. In major rice mills of Pakistan all the quality measurement is done manually. Rice quality inspection by humans relying upon the naked eye is neither objective nor efficient. Impartial inspection may sometimes err as a result of inexperience, or inspection may be deliberately shifted out of sympathy for the producers. Also such type of techniques loose credibility. So there is a great need of solving this problem.
There are many solution available in the glob which are mainly based on specialized hardware like color sorter etc. Research is also going on in this regard in some of Chinese universities.
The objective of the proposed system is to develop a cost effective system using general local hardware available in the marketing to inspect the different characteristics of rice grain. This project is primarily based on the measurements characteristic like length, width  & tip detection.
