Message from Head of Physics Department:-

Welcome to the Physics Department at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, Campus. We offer an outstanding education and cutting edge research to our undergraduate and graduate students. Physics is the study of all matter and energy, as well as the interactions among them, in the entire physical universe. Physics is the most fundamental and the oldest science that employs rigorous logic, mathematics, experimentation, and critical reasoning / thinking. There is a continuous spectrum of exploration in physics, from the edge of our understanding to applications for everyday uses. Physicists are bound together in their passion to find and solve interesting and important puzzles for the benefit of all humanity, whether in academia or industry.
Physics is proud of it’s environment, which fosters all students and faculty to achieve their greatest potential and to become outstanding physicists. There is a true community of devoted explorers. The mixture of academic strength within the Physics Department and COMSATS in general, the family-like atmosphere among the students and faculty, excellent teaching facilities, outstanding faculty who enjoy teaching, opportunities for student participation in research and outreach, and the beauty of the local area all add up to success. We hope you’ll join us to begin a successful and exciting career in physics.
Mission:-
In Physics at COMSATS, our mission is to provide the academic background to find employment in a variety of technical areas, to pursue graduate degrees in physics or engineering, or to become a physics educator. We offer an innovative, project-based undergraduate program with opportunities for campus-wide or off-campus projects, hands on experience in all aspects of physics, that allows each and every student to follow their own personal path. Many of our graduates have gone directly on to post-graduate programs, primarily in physics and related fields.
Brief Introduction of Programs:-
BS (Phy)COMSATS institute of information technology is taking lead in introducing a BS degree in physics. The program is designed to train and equip students with the latest developments associated with physic and its allied technologies. The program pays special attention to work out the fundamental concepts in quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics and electro dynamics. In the final year, students will opt for electives in a number of available areas like micro and nanotechnologies (electronics and opto electronics), material science, high energy physics, radiation physics, quantum optics and informatics. The graduates will readily be employed by R&D organizations, teaching institutes, and for PhD studies.

MS (Phy)
Our MS and PhD graduate research program in Physics is organized around four main areas: Nano-materials, Theoretical Physics, Clean Energy Technology, RF, Microwave and Opto-electronics. Physics faculty and students publish in the most prestigious journals and present at the International conferences every year.
Each program reflects an updated spectrum of modern aspects of science. Our curriculum is unique that enables our students to learn techniques and cerebration required to solve complex problems and equip them with managerial and professional skills as well. Apart from academic activities an effort to inculcate moral codes to all students also comes in the objectives of the department, so that they can contribute much more effectively in the society.

Research Groups:-
The Department of Physics, CIIT Lahore has focused all it's energies in achieving the ultimate target of World Ranking. Different measures are in progress to achieve this target and one of the measures is by Quality Teaching, Research Productivity and Services to the Community. To improve research productivity a number of research groups, headed by the senior PhD faculty and having about 10 faculty members in each group, have been formed at the Department of Physics. This evolving research environment attracts and retains high-performing staff at department. The major areas of research in the department are:
