Program at Glance:-

The Department of Computer Science is committed to a high quality graduate education. The research conducted by CS faculty enables graduate students a comprehensive, state-of-the-art understanding of computer science and its application to a wide range of other disciplines. A substantial level of sponsored research has been achieved thereby providing financial support for many graduate students in the form of research assistantships.

The graduate program in Computer Science also upholds and strengthens the mission of MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology), and HEC by providing excellence in instruction, innovation in research and scholarship, and service to the university, the profession, and the public.

The PhD courses are taken from the respective scheme of study/graduate course catalogue. It may be noted that the level of courses for PhD should be 600 and above i.e the course code should be CSC6-- and above.

The objectives of the Graduate Computer Science Program are that all students will:

Possess a breadth of knowledge in Computer Science, combined with a depth of knowledge in at least one focus area;
Be capable of independent research in Computer Science;
Be familiar with the literature in the field and be able to perform a literature search on an advanced topic in Computer Science;
Be knowledgeable about the theoretical foundations of computing and have strong practical application experience;
B able to make a professional presentation and be able to write a professional paper in Computer Science;
Have experience working in teams;
Understand and respect the professional standards of ethics expected of a computer scientist.

Eligibility Criteria:-

The admission into the graduate program are very competitive based on merit. The merit will be determined on the basis of the academic record, test and interview.

Admission Pre-Requisites

MS Admission:

A 16 years degree in the relevant field from an accredited educational institution with first division (annual system) or CGPA2.5/4.0 (semester system) with no third division or D grade throughout the academic career.
NTS GAT(General) with 50% marks

PhD Admission:

MS/M.Phil or its equivalent degree in the relevant field from an accredited educational institution with CGPA of 3.0/4.0 or 70% marks with no third division or D grade throughout Academic career.

GRE Requirement:

GRE (Subject) as per HEC policy or NTS GAT (Subject) with 60% Marks.

Scheme of Study:-

MS Program

The MS program will consist of 24 credit hours of course work from graduate level courses and 6 credit hours of MS thesis.

Ph.D. Program

The Ph.D. students with MS/M.Phil or equivalent degree will be required to pass 18 credit hours of course work from graduate level courses.
