Through ages, the need to establish the department of Humanities in the universities all over the world could never be over-emphasized. In order to inculcate the moral and ethical values in the students, to groom and refine the masses, to bring peace and prosperity, tolerance and harmony in the society, disciplines of Humanities have been the forerunners. Realizing the importance of the subjects of Humanities and Social Sciences in human cultivation, the Principal Seat of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology decided to establish a separate department of Humanities at Lahore campus in 2010. So the department of Humanities at Lahore campus is a realization of the vision of the Principal Seat. The department takes its inception both as a challenge and opportunity to bring cutting edge transformation among the students of CIIT to make them cultured and enlightened citizens of Pakistan. The department is having number of faculty members who are providing their services in multiple disciplines under the umbrella of Humanities. This new department is comprised of five main disciplines categorically English Language, Islamic studies, Pakistan studies, International Relations, and Psychology. The faculty members not only teach courses, but also have enriched research exposure in their respective areas.

Moreover, this department has a great contribution in conducting curricular and co-curricular activities such as: conducting seminars, literary plays, debates, symposia, competitions, study expeditions, involving pupil to multiple creative research projects, and also inculcating the moral and ethical values, which are the hallmark in adding to the institutional prestige of COMSATS.
